Canon announces Speedlite EL-5 flash

Canon has released details of the Speedlite EL-5, a high-performance flashgun for capturing weddings and events. Offering the same intuitive design as the EL-1 as well as an equivalent guide number of 60, the Speedlite EL-5 promises to be a powerful and versatile creative light tool for single- and multi-flash set-ups. The EL-5 boasts a number of firsts, including the new multi-function foot to pair with the recently introduced multi-function hotshoe of cameras like the EOS R3, plus a new on-flash button which takes you straight into the camera’s flash menu for instant control. Canon EOS R5 becomes official; EOS R6 debuts too

Canon has reimagined its full frame mirrorless range, with the introduction of two new EOS R models – the EOS R5 and EOS R6. Bearing similarities across the two cameras' features sets, the R5 and R6 both offer exceptional opportunities to photographers, with 12 frames per second (fps) shooting rates, extended to 20fps with the electronic shutter, latest DIGIC X processing power and, for the first time in an EOS camera, 5-stop in-body image stabilisation (IS) which works with existing lens IS to offer up to 8 stops of stabilisation benefit. Canon's powerful Dual Pixel AF system has been further enhanced, with both cameras benefitting from the latest autofocus technology and AI learning for not only human subjects but now also animal subjects too, in the form of dogs, cats and birds. Four new lenses for Canon EOS R system

Canon today announces the addition of four new lenses to its EOS R full frame mirrorless system, significantly extending the options available. The lenses introduced are the RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1L IS USM lens, already announced earlier this year, plus two super telephoto lenses – the RF 600mm f11 IS STM and RF 800mm f11 IS STM – and the RF 85mm f2 MACRO IS STM lens. Canon announces EOS Ra for astrophotographers

Canon has announced the EOS Ra – its first full frame camera for astronomical photography. The EOS Ra stands unique in the market – unlike other full frame astro cameras, it is portable and has no need for external power and connection to a computer, resulting in exceptional image quality of visible reality but also of deep space photography with a wide range of optical devices. Canon Europe today launches the RF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM and RF 85mm f1.2L USM DS lenses, delivering on its commitment to introduce six RF lenses for the EOS R System in 2019. Canon Europe has launched two high-speed, high resolution cameras – one DSLR and one M-series mirrorless – designed to take enthusiast photographers to the next skill level. Canon Europe today launches its latest generation of iconic 85mm f1.2L lens – the RF 85mm F1.2L USM. Offering the highest resolution of a Canon lens launched to date, it features a super-fast aperture and outstanding AF speeds, making it ideal for capturing candid portraiture and wedding photography. The past is always a useful guide to the future – and based on this, we’re going to look at the EOS R system in light of the EOS RP launch earlier this month. And to do so, we’re going to delve into the archives at the launch of the EOS 300D (USA: Digital Rebel) back in 2003, and even further back still to the launch of the EOS 650 film camera in 1987.
