  Canon has updated the firmware for three of its EOS R system cameras: EOS R8, R10 and R100. All updates offer minor tweaks and fixes and can be downloaded free of charge from the Canon website. Canon advises that if your camera's firmware is already showing as the current version, then no action is needed. Full instructions on how to install the firmware are included in the download files.    EOS R8 Firmware version 1.6.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes: 1. Firmware version 2.1.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes: * When using Camera Connect, please delete the camera's information from your smartphone's Bluetooth device list, then re-pair the devices. 1. Adds [American Football] in [Action Priority] to optimize human subject detection for individuals wearing helmets and shoulder pads. *For an overview and instructions on using [Action Priority], please refer to the Instruction Manual or the AF Settings Guide. 2. Following the announcement last week, Canon has released firmware version 1.3.0 for the EOS R5 Mark II camera. There are a number of feature improvements as well as an assortment of bug fixes. Since its release, a further release for v1.3.1 has been issued to address a minor bug found in the Touch & drag AF feature. Canon has announced that there will shortly be firmware updates for a number of its EOS R-series mirrorless and PowerShot digital cameras. With this announcement, Canon reaffirms its commitment to continuous product innovation. The updates have been developed in response to real-world feedback from creators and photographers, and promise to deliver additional features and performance enhancements, helping customers get even more from the cameras they already own. Canon has released details today of three new and updated accessories for the EOS system. • Bluetooth Remote  BR-E2 This updated wireless remote for the EOS system is physically the same size as its predecessor, but offers extra functionality. It's backwards-compatible and usefully can be registered to up to five cameras at a time, though it can still only control one at a time.  The BR-E2 offers a separate video recording button in addition to the two-stage shutter button. There's also a lever in the centre which can be used to operate the lens zoom or for adjusting exposure compensation, which replaces the buttons on the BR-E1.
