Canon's Test Drive service extended

Canon's Test Drive scheme has been extended, with more products now added to the line-up and the first 48 hours free. If you have an EOS R-series camera and are looking for a new lens, then you can pick from the full RF line-up – now 17 lenses. In addition, if you've been thinking about switching to mirrorless, then you can test drive the new R5 or R6 cameras. Plus Canon has also added binoculars to the scheme. You can loan gear for up to seven days, but the first 48 hours is free (there is a refundable deposit to pay). If you go on to buy any of the equipment within six weeks of testing, then any extra test drive fees will be refunded. It's a great way to try before you buy, and to see what the new EOS R system is all about. For more information and full T&Cs, visit: https://www.canon.co.uk/testdrive/

150 million lenses milestone for Canon

Canon has reached a new lens-manufacturing milestone with the production in January 2021 of the company’s 150-millionth interchangeable lens for EOS cameras— an RF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM lens. Production of interchangeable EF lenses for EOS cameras began in 1987. EF lens production passed the 10-million mark in 1995 and crossed the 50-million-unit threshold in 2009. In April 2014, the company celebrated its first-in-the-world achievement of having manufactured 100 million interchangeable lenses. Laid end-to-end, all of the RF and EF lenses Canon has manufactured so far would measure approximately 7,736 miles in length — nearly equivalent to the Earth’s diameter of approximately 7,917 miles.
