Firmware Version 1.1.1 for the EOS 7D Mark II incorporates the following improvements and fixes: 1. Enhances reliability of communications when transferring images using Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E7 (A/B/C/D/E). 2. Corrects the phenomenon of Err70 which occurs with certain combinations of settings. 3. Corrects the phenomenon in which in very rare cases the shutter can no longer be released. 4. EOS 5D Mark IV to get C-Log update

Canon has announced a new upgrade service for the EOS 5D Mark IV following feedback from its global community of professional photographers and videographers. With the upgrade, Canon Log (C-Log) – a staple feature in Canon’s Cinema EOS range – can be added to the EOS 5D Mark IV, providing enhanced dynamic range and easier colour grading. Designed to deliver an 800% increase in dynamic range, C-Log minimises the loss of detail in the darkest and brightest parts of the image. When using C-Log on the EOS 5D Mark IV, an ISO setting of 400 will deliver the largest dynamic range of 12 stops, perfect for shooting in difficult lighting conditions. Ensuring maximum freedom in post-production, C-Log alters the image processing data after the image has been captured. As a result, videographers and filmmakers will find it easy to colour match with footage shot on other cameras, including those in the Canon Cinema EOS range. The footage from any camera can be combined and colour

EF-S 35mm f2.8 Macro lens

Canon has launched a new innovative lens. Designed for macro and close-up photography, the EF-S 35mm f2.8 Macro IS STM features Canon’s unique built-in Macro Lite technology and is the first lens of its kind in the EF-S range. It is compatible with all EOS APS-C digital single-lens reflex cameras (except the EOS D30, D60 and 10D). The lens has built-in LEDs which illuminate small objects while minimising the shadows it casts with a tapered edge design. It offers life-size (1:1) magnification, capturing subjects as close as 30mm from the front of the lens. This close working distance and magnification level means it is ideal for revealing the tiny and intricate details of subjects such as jewellery, food and crafts. The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer with Hybrid IS compensates for angular and linear movement. This is especially useful for handheld macro shooting as this is prone to exaggerate camera shake, often causing unwanted blur. The built-in Macro Lite offers flexible

Canon UK HQ to host EOS Training Academy's workshop programme

Starting this spring, EOS Training Academy’s dedicated Canon photography training programme extends its reach to include Canon UK’s head office in Reigate, Surrey as its new workshop venue. From May 2017 onwards, selected EOS camera and Speedlite workshops will be held in Reigate, including the popular camera-specific Optimise courses for the EOS 5D Mark IV, 5DS/R, 5D Mark III, 7D Mark II and 80D, Making the Most series for beginner and enthusiast models, and Speedlite for beginners for those wishing to enhance their photography with flash. This means that course delegates will not only be able to learn how to use their camera but also to visit the EOS epicentre that is Canon’s headquarters at the same time – an exciting opportunity for keen Canonites. As part of a planned expansion of the academy programme, this new location to the south of London means that there are now three Workshop venues to learn about your EOS photography: Oxford, central London (near Euston) an
