Canon launches '.canon' website

Canon has gone live with a renewed global website employing a web address that departs from the traditional location-specific '' to the new '' proprietary domain name. The launch marks Canon’s first use of the '.canon' top-level domain (TLD) since acquiring it in February 2015.

Because '.canon' can only be used by Canon Group companies and services, visitors to sites that use the new TLD can easily confirm their authenticity and be assured that the information they contain is reliable. Additionally, by leveraging the simplicity of the TLD, which is easy to remember and easy to understand, Canon aims to enhance the Company’s global brand value.

In addition to the English-language version of the “” website, Canon will introduce other languages to the site in the future to share brand messages and other information globally.

Speedlite 600EX II-RT

The Speedlite 600EX II-RT delivers high performance, making it the perfect companion for the flagship EOS-1D X Mark II. Firing up to 50 per cent more flashes continuously compared with its predecessor, and a 100 per cent increase when used with the new CP-E4N external battery pack, it ensures you capture even more of the action. The new and improved heat measure technology prevents overheating and allows longer bursts of flashes.

A guide number of 60 (metres, ISO 100) allows lighting of a subject over a wide range of distances and large areas, ideal for capturing a large group at a wedding, for example. Thanks to a wide lens coverage, from 20mm to 200mm, or to 14mm via the built-in adapter, you can easily control how light is spread across a subject.

For creative illumination, the flash features a wireless slave function, enabling you to make the most of off-camera lighting. The radio control function, pioneered by Canon, provides further creative freedom, allowing photographers to b…

World’s first AF lens with a built in Macro Lite

Canon has introduced the EF-M 28mm f3.5 Macro IS STM, a new macro lens for EOS M series cameras. Compact and lightweight, the lens offers unprecedented macro capabilities and includes the world’s first built in Macro Lite, removing shadow and darkness. With the ability to focus on subjects as close as 13mm and a body weighing just 130g, the EF-M 28mm f3.5 Macro IS STM is the world lightest macro lens for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras.

The dedicated Macro Lite allows you to bring the lens as close as you need without compromising on light. Used to illuminate small objects up close, it can be controlled by a switch, letting you change the lighting intensity and direction on one or both sides of the Macro Lite.

The lens offers both life-size 1.0x magnification and 1.2x in Super Macro mode. Giving you the flexibility to shoot handheld without camera shake, Canon’s optical Image Stabilizer – which delivers sharp, blur free shots when combined with Hybrid IS technology – also cor…

Directional Stereo Microphone DM-E1

The DM-E1 is a compact stereo directional microphone. Designed to complement the movie quality of the EOS range, the DM-E1 is a versatile, high-quality microphone that can be used to capture a range of subjects.

Featuring a classic shotgun design, the DM-E1 provides the ability to adjust the microphone to capture in three different directional patterns. The monaural shotgun mode is best suited for capturing a sound source directly in front of the camera, such as a presenter or reporter, providing some isolation from other sounds from within their environment. Switching to the 90 and 120 degree modes provides stereo sound for sources that are spread over wider areas, such as an orchestra in a concert hall.

The in-built shock mount ensures noise from camera operations and lens zoom are effectively reduced, whilst wind noise is avoided thanks to the windshield. With a 50Hz to 16kHz sound frequency range pick-up, the microphone can capture a wide tonal range, while the 66dB S/N ratio and…
