TIPA 2018 awards for Canon

Canon has received six awards from the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). Representing 30 industry magazines from 15 countries across five continents, it is one of the world’s leading photo imaging and press associations. Canon was first commended by TIPA in 1991, and 2018 marks the 24th year it has been recognised for technical innovations to the photography industry.  Four Canon cameras, one lens and a Speedlite have been recognised as industry-leading this year, and were specifically accredited with meeting the diverse image shooting and video production requirements for all customer types and technical capabilities. New Cosmos of Photography competition 2018

Canon will be accepting entries for its New Cosmos of Photography 2018 (41st edition) competition from 18 April. The New Cosmos of Photography is open to entrants globally and is Canon’s cultural project to discover, nurture and support new photographers. Since its launch in 1991, the programme has encouraged participants to explore new and creative ways to engage with photography. In 2015 the contest also opened entry to digital submissions (stills and video) to encourage more novel forms of photographic expression. The New Cosmos of Photography encourages participants to create original pieces of work that push the boundaries of photography. Award winners will have their work featured at exhibitions and published collections, as well on the New Cosmos of Photography website. EOS 5D Mark IV firmware update

Firmware Version 1.1.2 for the EOS 5D Mark IV incorporates the following improvements and fixes: 1. Support has been added for chromatic aberration correction, peripheral illumination correction, distortion correction, and Digital Lens Optimizer when using Digital Photo Professional to process RAW images captured with the following TS-E lenses: TS-E 17mm f4L, TS-E 24mm f3.5L II, TS-E 50mm f2.8L Macro, TS-E 90mm f2.8L Macro and TS-E 135mm f4L Macro. 2. Fixes a phenomenon in which standard exposure may not be obtained, or an irregular exposure may result, when Silent LV (Live View) shooting with the following TS-E lenses: TS-E 50mm f2.8L Macro, TS-E 90mm f2.8L Macro and TS-E 135mm f4L Macro. 3. Support for Exif 2.31 has been added. 4. Fixes a phenomenon in which the camera may not function normally when using the Camera Connect application to shoot a high frame rate movie. 5. EOS-1D X Mark II firmware update

Firmware Version 1.1.6 for the EOS-1D X Mark II fixes a phenomenon in which the camera may not function normally when images are simultaneously displayed on the camera's LCD monitor and an external monitor (via HDMI output).
