Canon announces launch of EOS R5 C hybrid camera

Compact and lightweight, the EOS R5 C is an advanced hybrid camera, blending video formats and features from the Cinema EOS line-up with the still-imaging capabilities of the EOS R5 camera. If the EOS R5 can be considered to be THE camera for stills, then the R5 C is THE camera for video. It's the smallest, most versatile Cinema EOS camera yet. From seamless 8K video workflows, to high-speed, high-quality stills, the EOS R5 C offers a multitude of shooting options and formats. Its hybridity is marked by the inclusion of not just one menu system, but two. The power on switch of the EOS R5 has been adapted so that the camera has two distinct modes: Photo and Video. By making the switch, you also change the menu system, with Photo offering the standard stills menu from the EOS R5, and Video offering the Cinema EOS menu system. This is the first time this dramatic change of operating menus has been deployed in a single Canon camera body. Combining key features of the Cinema EOS and ...

EOS 5D Mark IV to get C-Log update

Canon has announced a new upgrade service for the EOS 5D Mark IV following feedback from its global community of professional photographers and videographers. With the upgrade, Canon Log (C-Log) – a staple feature in Canon’s Cinema EOS range – can be added to the EOS 5D Mark IV, providing enhanced dynamic range and easier colour grading. Designed to deliver an 800% increase in dynamic range, C-Log minimises the loss of detail in the darkest and brightest parts of the image. When using C-Log on the EOS 5D Mark IV, an ISO setting of 400 will deliver the largest dynamic range of 12 stops, perfect for shooting in difficult lighting conditions. Ensuring maximum freedom in post-production, C-Log alters the image processing data after the image has been captured. As a result, videographers and filmmakers will find it easy to colour match with footage shot on other cameras, including those in the Canon Cinema EOS range. The footage from any camera can be combined and colour...
