Canon wins five honours at the 2016 TIPA Awards

Canon has been awarded five accolades by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) – one of the world’s leading photo imaging and press associations. Each year, the TIPA Awards recognise the best imaging products launched in the previous 12 months. Canon Inc. announces its 13 th year at number one in the interchangeable-lens digital camera market, spanning both DSLR and compact system devices (based on a Canon survey). In 2003, Canon broke new ground with the introduction of the EOS 300D. Combining a competitive price with a compact, lightweight design, this pioneering camera captured the top global market share upon release, leading the way for Canon’s dominance in DSLR. 

Four free photo apps available

Canon has released four free iOS applications in the UK and Ireland. BestShutter is designed to help take photos of children and pets who usually don't pay attention to the camera. The app uses fun sounds to capture children or pet's attention. A function to remove ads can be purchased for GBP 0.79 / Ireland: EUR 0.99). Photo Log Map is designed to meets the needs of people who want to record location information together with shooting records during various situations such as traveling or mountain climbing. Using data from your images and a smartphones information service, it creates a shooting record maps. Even with data from photos shot on digital cameras not equipped with GPS, you can create a shooting record map linked to the smartphones GPS log. In addition to photos on the map, you can also add text memos and sound memos that record the location's conditions. Updates to Canon software

Canon has released updates for some of its software to provide support for its latest cameras, including the EOS-1D X Mark II, 80D and 1300D. The latest versions are: •  Digital Photo Professional 4.4.30 •  EOS Utility 3.4.30 •  Picture Style Editor 1.16.30 To download the updates for Windows or Mac OS X go to www.canon.co.uk/support , enter your camera model and select the 'Software' tab. Check that the updates are suitable for your computer and operating system configuration.
