EOS R5 Mark II firmware update 1.1.1

A firmware update for the EOS R5 Mark II has been issued. This firmware (Version 1.1.1) includes fixes for the following issues identified in Version 1.1.0: 1. Fixes an issue where video could not be recorded correctly when using a memory card larger than 2TB with the [Pre-recording] setting enabled. This firmware also incorporates the following changes introduced in Firmware Version 1.1.0: 1. Improves security features. EOS R1 firmware update 1.1.2

Canon has released a firmware update for its flagship camera, the EOS R1. This firmware (Version 1.1.2) includes fixes for the following issues identified in Version 1.1.0: 1. Fixes an issue where video could not be recorded correctly when using a memory card larger than 2TB with the [Pre-recording] setting enabled. 2. Fixes an issue where the camera failed to operate properly after updating to Firmware Version 1.1.0 if the still photo shooting/movie recording switch function was set to [Silent shutter function switching] or [Disable]. Canon Speedlite EL-1 (Ver.2) announced

Canon has released details of an update to its flagship flashgun, the EL-1. The new Speedlite EL-1(Ver.2) offers a super-fast 0.1-0.9 sec recycle time for bursts of up to 170 full-power flashes. High-speed bursts at lower power levels are also possible. The guide number is 58 (metres, ISO 100). A high-performance LP-EL battery powers the Speedlite. Expect up to 2380 flashes from a single charge. An accurate battery-level indicator lets you know when it is time to recharge or replace your power source. The unit has the same degree of dust and water resistance as L-series lenses. An active cooling system prevents overheating, so you can shoot for longer. Illuminate your subject from anywhere in the scene, controlling the EL-1 (Ver.2) wirelessly with a radio or optical trigger. Use multiple Speedlites together (as individual units or groups) for creative lighting. New firmware for EOS R1 and R5 Mark II temporarily unavailable

Firmware version 1.1.0 for the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II, announced early in July 2025, is currently unavailable. "Canon has determined that playback may not be possible on the camera or a PC when users are shooting videos with pre-recording settings using a card reader larger than 2TB. Canon is taking steps to have the firmware available as soon as possible." If you have already downloaded the firmware, Canon advises that you do not install it on your camera.

EOS R10 firmware update 1.7.0 released

Canon has issued a firmware update for the EOS R10 camera. Firmware Version 1.7.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes: 1. Improves security features. Canon announces significant firmware update for EOS R1 and R5 Mark II

Canon today announces firmware updates for the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II, designed to refine performance in high-speed news and sports environments and further streamline workflows, alongside further enhancements across its mirrorless camera line-up. Shortly after release, an issue was identified , leading to versions 1.1.0 (EOS R5 Mark II) and 1.1.1 (EOS R1) being withdrawn.
