New polarising filters

Canon has introduced a new range of versatile, multifunctional PL-C B polarizing filters to help reduce reflections from glass or water or darken blue skies. The PL-C B filters, which are available in 52mm, 58mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm and 82mm filter thread sizes, also allow the lens cap to be attached to the lens to prevent damage to the filter if left attached when not in use.

Canon strengthens tilt-and-shift lens range

Canon has launched two new tilt-and-shift lenses, the ultra-wide angle TS-E 17mm f4L and the TS-E 24mm f3.5L II, an upgrade to the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L. At 17mm, the TS-E 17mm f4L has the widest view angle of any tilt-and-shift lens currently available and offers outstanding image quality across the whole frame. It is an ideal choice for architectural or landscape photography. Building on the success of its predecessor, the TS-E 24mm f3.5L II, like the TS-E 17mm f4L, now includes Canon’s sub-wavelength structure coating (SWC). Canon’s patented lens coating is specifically designed to minimise ghosting and flare caused by internal reflections to help deliver crisp, clear images. More >>

EOS 500D brings movie mode to consumer camera

Following the launch of the first EOS camera to shoot movies – the EOS 5D Mark II in September 2008 – Canon now brings Full High Definition (HD) video capability to consumers in a compact and lightweight DSLR. The new EOS 500D features a 15.1 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor – ideal for large detailed prints or enormous cropping possibilities. For shooting in near-dark conditions, the EOS 500D offers a high ISO sensitivity up to 3200 that is expandable to 12800, giving photographers the power to shoot in the dimmest light conditions. Effective noise reduction is made possible by Canon’s DIGIC 4 processor. The EOS 500D offers a new way for photography enthusiasts to capture their world. It pairs still image capture with Full HD 1080P video recording. Users can also choose lower shooting resolutions of 720P or VGA.
