Canon top Japanese company for US patents for 11th consecutive year

Canon is ranked first among Japanese companies and third overall for the number of U.S. patents awarded in 2015, according to the latest ranking of preliminary patent results issued by IFI CLAIMS Patent Services in January 2016.

As part of its research and development efforts, Canon actively pursues patents in a number of countries and regions while taking into consideration local business strategies and technology trends. Among these, the United States, with its many high-tech companies and large market scale, represents a particularly important region in terms of business expansion and technology alliances.

Canon has ranked in the top five patent holders for 30 consecutive years.

Canon has issued firmware Version 1.1.5 for the EOS 700D (Rebel T5i). This update incorporates the following fix:

Corrects a phenomenon in which when using the camera with the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM or EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM lens, even if lens aberration correction is set to 'Enable', correction will not be applied.

Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software has been updated to version 4.7.21.

Windows and Mac: Fixes an error in which Dual Pixel RAW Optimiser may not be started.

Windows only: Fixes an error in which the Filter/Sort pane may have problems displaying when a high-resolution monitor is being used.
