New firmware update for EOS 7D Mark II

Canon removed firmware version 1.1.1 after a communication error was discovered (see item posted on 19 May 2017). The company has now resolved the issue and released firmware update version 1.1.2. This phenomenon only occurs when the firmware was updated from Version 1.0.5 or earlier to Version 1.1.1. It can also deliver 4K UHD recording at 150Mbps, and 2K or Full HD at 35Mbps to SD cards in MP4 format. Supporting up to 15-stops of dynamic range with Cinema RAW Light and up to 13-stops of dynamic range in MP4 (Canon Log / Log 3), the camera is able to capture a wide range of highlight and shadow details. The EOS C200 is also capable of delivering both slow and fast motion recording at

EOS 5D Mark IV to get C-Log update

Canon has announced a new upgrade service for the EOS 5D Mark IV following feedback from its global community of professional photographers and videographers. With the upgrade, Canon Log (C-Log) – a staple feature in Canon’s Cinema EOS range – can be added to the EOS 5D Mark IV, providing enhanced dynamic range and easier colour grading. EF-S 35mm f2.8 Macro lens

Canon has launched a new innovative lens. Designed for macro and close-up photography, the EF-S 35mm f2.8 Macro IS STM features Canon’s unique built-in Macro Lite technology and is the first lens of its kind in the EF-S range. It is compatible with all EOS APS-C digital single-lens reflex cameras (except the EOS D30, D60 and 10D). The lens has built-in LEDs which illuminate small objects while minimising the shadows it casts with a tapered edge design. It offers life-size (1:1) magnification, capturing subjects as close as 30mm from the front of the lens. This close working distance and magnification level means it is ideal for revealing the tiny and intricate details of subjects such as jewellery, food and crafts. The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer with Hybrid IS compensates for angular and linear movement. This is especially useful for handheld macro shooting as this is prone to exaggerate camera shake, often causing unwanted blur. The built-in Macro Lite offers flexible

EOS system celebrates 30th anniversary

Today, Canon is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the launch of its world-renowned EOS System. Canon’s EOS System made its debut on 1 March 1987 with the launch of the EOS 650 SLR camera and EF lenses, at a time when visiting your local pharmacy to develop your camera film was the norm. Technology featured within the EOS system has helped create and inspire changes in the way people take photos. The EOS system came to life in 1987 after Canon announced its aim to develop a highly-refined autofocus (AF) SLR model. It moved away from its FD lens system to create the world’s first fully electronic mount system. From then the EOS range has included the first affordable consumer DSLR – the EOS 300D – which ushered in a new era of digital photography in 2003. Five years later in 2008, the EOS 5D Mark II revolutionised filmmaking by offering Full HD movie recording on a DSLR.
